The San Gabriel Valley Foundation for Dental Health is a non-profit organization providing dental care and education to children who come from economically disadvantaged families. Founded in 1996, the Foundation opened its doors in 1997 and so far, has recorded over 17,500 patient visits. In addition, we have provided dental education and screenings to over 110,000 children.
We have several volunteer dentists, dental hygienists, dental students and dental assisting students who treat these children alongside our part-time staffed dentists. The clinic operates within the teaching facility of the Hacienda-La Puente Unified School District’s Adult School Dental Assisting Program and is open Monday-Wednesday. We treat children from 2-19 years of age who have Medi-Cal / Denti-Cal or are without dental insurance and are eligible for the Free Lunch Program at school for $20 per visit regardless of the amount of care performed. On a typical day this year, our dentists, Western University Dental students and dental assisting students will treat between 10 and 20 patients.
The San Gabriel Valley Foundation for Dental Health has a bold and exciting vision that is reflected in our Mission Statement and Program Goals outlined below:
- Provide quality dental care to financially disadvantaged children, ages 2 to 19
- Offer a comprehensive patient / family education program, with a strong emphasis on preventive dentistry that is designed to minimize children’s dental diseases
- Furnish a learning environment that provides dental assisting students with the knowledge of how to operate and staff a multidisciplinary pediatric care facility
- Provide a model program that can be used by other communities
Clinic Hours: Staring in January 2017 new clinic hours will be: Mondays and Tuesdays 9am-5pm and Wednesdays 8 am – 12 pm.
